Heat stable norvir tablets approved! No refridgeration required

I am currently controlling my HIV with Norvir, Darunavir and Truvada. Norvir was a real pain during the first few months. First, they are rather large and therefore difficult to swallow. Second, they need to be refrigerated. I had a big issue with keeping HIV meds in the fridge me and my flatmate shared together. There is something rather messed up about opening the fridge to get milk for one’s breakfast and stumbling upon a massive box of anti-retrovirals. Also, some of his friends would ask him what they were to which he replied elusively, ‘Oh, they’re Joe’s pills’. When I moved back to Scotland, my doctor jokingly replied that I should bury them in the garden for storage due to the fact that it is usually always cold here!

Well, the good news is that Norvir is now available in a form that does not require refrigeration. This should make things easier for those who live in shared accommodation and do not wish to disclose their status.

FDA Approves Heat Stable Norvir Tablets

I’ve also just read a press release from Abbot, who manufacture the drug, that they have been approved for use in Europe too.
